Kites is a charitable trust. The sustainability of our mahi relies on generous donations and ongoing community support. This allows us to continue walking alongside people experiencing mental health distress and advocating for equal participation for all Tāngata Whai Ora.
What your support makes possible:
- Employment with purpose
Your donation helps us employ peers in meaningful
roles. It creates paid opportunities for Tāngata Whai
Ora to grow confidence, develop skills, and step into
leadership. - Training and development
We invest in training, supervision, and pathways that
support peer workers to thrive. This builds a strong
workforce grounded in lived experience and
community care. - Peer support where it matters most
Our team supports people in Wellington and Hutt
Valley inpatient wards and is available in
Emergency Departments for mental health or AOD
challenges. When someone reaches out, they meet
a peer who understands and can walk alongside them. - Young adult peer spaces
We hold welcoming, low-barrier spaces for young
adults to connect, share, and learn from each other.
These are designed with and for people aged
18-30 years old. - Community-led initiatives
We create programmes shaped directly by Tāngata
Whai Ora. Your support lets us respond to emerging
needs, pilot new ideas, and scale what works. - A connected peer support workforce
Our peer support Community of Practice (Pōneke Peers)
is a place for peer support workers across the region to connect, learn, and grow.
